| Breaking News | | Thursday, September 16th, 1982: Rockhead Pops 3 Out of the Park Against Minutemen Going... Going... Gone! Joe Rockhead did it three times in the Allegheny-Bay State game at Griffinsdome. Three home runs in one game -- but his team lost -- the Minutemen outscored the Alligators 9-5.
"Gosh, it's a shame we didn't win this game. I get my name in the record book, but we lose the game."
For the day the Allegheny shortstop went 4-4 against Bay State with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting.
"I was in a groove," he said, "and every pitch they tossed up there looked like a basketball." Commenting after the game to the press, the semi-elated Rockhead explained, "I tell you what, I was surprised because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out."

The Allegheny shortstop was pure misery for the Miami pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Marlins told BNN reporters after the game, "Burleson put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
R. Burleson doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off W. Remmerswaal in the 10th.
To date Burleson has chalked up a .421 average with 1 home run, driven in 10 runs and scored 6 times. | | Monday, September 6th, 1982: Scorpions Brown Tosses Masterpiece Arizona pitcher Mordecai Brown blanked the Allegheny Alligators 5-0, tossing a 4-hitter while issuing 3 walks and collecting 6 strikeouts.
After his sharp shutout performance, he said that he gives a lot of the credit to his batterymate. "Me and him are just locked in out there. He's so great at having a feel for hitters. I couldn't do what I'm doing without him."
This season to date Brown has a record of 14 wins and 15 losses with a 3.74 ERA, has appeared in 35 games and struck out 108 in 269.2 innings. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 99-63, .611 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 56-25, .691 PCT | | Record on the road | 43-38, .531 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-6, .571 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 24-18, .571 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 38-31, .551 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 61-32, .656 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 13-9, .591 PCT | | Record in May | 18-10, .643 PCT | | Record in June | 18-8, .692 PCT | | Record in July | 17-9, .654 PCT | | Record in August | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in September | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in October | 3-0, 1.000 PCT |
