Friday, September 24th, 1982: Detroit Bats Silenced by Feller
Bob Feller of the Stoney Creek Titans not only shut out Detroit 3-0, he made it look effortless. Feller stopped them on 5 hits to help the Titans cruise past the Red Wings. His performance included 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In 30 starts this season Feller has fashioned a 21-6 record and a 2.28 ERA.
Monday, September 13th, 1982: Super Week for Detroit's Mays!
At the age of 28, Willie Mays might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Detroit center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the National League Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 10 hits in 28 at-bats, 4 home runs and 9 RBIs last week in 7 games.

This year Mays is batting .255 with 21 home runs.
Saturday, September 11th, 1982: Baker Bashes 5 Base Hits
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Bomber Field when Rube Baker of Battle Creek scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Detroit Red Wings.

He walloped 5 hits in 7 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Bombers get by the Red Wings 7-6.

In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the catcher of the Bombers exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-7. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."

R. Baker hit a two-run home run off J. Reuss in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th and struck out in the 13th.

This year Baker is batting .272 with 141 hits and 21 home runs. He has scored 68 times and has batted in 69 runs.
