In the latest churning of the rumor mill, reports indicate that 34-year-old reliever Dave LaRoche of the South City Hoosiers could be on the trading block. While the player refused to comment, the team did not outright deny the claims. "If it'll help this team, we'll make a move," said one team official.

 | Tuesday, September 21st, 1982: Dennis Leonard Blanks South City
In an outstanding outing, Dennis Leonard tamed South City on a 5-hit shutout. The Battle Creek hurler went the distance, finishing with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 2-0 win.
"He had a lot of first pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to the South City manager. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
This year Leonard has gone 1-3 with an ERA of 3.11 and has 12 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.
